Before you book.

Do you serve all Toronto venues, including hotels and licensed spaces?+
Yes. Akari is fully self-powered and requires no venue electricity or WiFi. This means we operate at any licensed venue in Toronto: hotel ballrooms, private dining rooms, lofts, terraces, convention halls, without any coordination with venue staff about infrastructure. We've never been turned away by a Toronto venue.
How far in advance do I need to book?+
We recommend booking as early as possible for peak Toronto dates, particularly June through September for weddings, and November through January for corporate events. That said, we can often accommodate last-minute bookings. Get in touch with your date and we'll confirm availability within minutes.
What does the custom overlay design look like?+
We design a branded overlay specific to your event: names, date, logo, colour palette, and any specific messaging. For weddings it typically features your names and date styled to match your invitation aesthetic. For corporate events it includes your logo and tagline. We send a proof before the event for your approval.
How many photos can guests take?+
Unlimited. Ultimate and Custom Build include unlimited prints for the full duration of the booking. Essential is digital only. There's no counter, no cap, no awkward conversation if supply runs low. We arrive stocked for the whole night and every guest can take as many photos as they want.
What's included after the event?+
Every photo from the night is delivered in a private online gallery within 48 hours of your event. You get the full-resolution archive: every guest, every table, every candid moment from the whole evening. For corporate and trade show clients, this includes the full lead list with contact details collected at digital delivery.
Is Akari insured?+
Yes. Akari carries full liability insurance and can provide documentation to any Toronto venue that requires it. This is standard practice for licensed venues across the city. We handle the paperwork before the event so there are no surprises on the night.
Is the piloted photobooth rental accessible for guests with mobility limitations?+
Yes. Because the robot comes to each guest at their seat, it is naturally inclusive for guests in wheelchairs, guests with limited mobility, and older guests who would never queue at a corner photo booth. The entire event photography experience happens at table level: no standing, no walking, no queue. For events with diverse or multigenerational Toronto guest lists, this is one of the most valued aspects of Akari's roaming format.
How is guest contact information handled after the event?+
Phone numbers and email addresses collected at digital delivery are used solely to send the guest their photo. We do not store, sell, or market to guest contact information beyond that purpose. Contact data is removed from our systems after the post-event gallery delivery window closes. Our data practices comply with CASL and PIPEDA.
Can guests choose not to provide their contact details?+
Yes. Digital delivery is completely opt-in. Guests who prefer not to share their phone number or email simply take their instant print and move on. No data is collected from anyone who declines. The instant print is theirs regardless.
What is the print and photo quality like?+
Akari uses a 4K camera and professional dye-sublimation printing: the same standard used in high-end portrait studios. Prints are available in 2×6 or 4×6 format depending on your package. The output is not comparable to a thermal photo strip or phone print. Colour depth, sharpness, and durability are significantly higher, which is why guests keep and display them.
What happens if there is a technical issue during the event?+
Our operator is on-site for the full duration and resolves any technical issue immediately. We carry backup consumables for all events. In the rare case of a hardware failure that cannot be resolved on-site, we provide a full or partial refund proportional to lost coverage time. We have never had to end an event early due to a technical fault.
